An observational first-person look into the lives of a dispersed Palestinian family. The director questions her personal fears and clings to the recollection of intimate moments shared with her grandmother and great aunt, who came from a passing generation whose hope has been challenged by decades of oppression and conflict.
Mais Darwazah is a Jordanian with Palestinian, Syrian and Kurdish roots. Mais has worked in Amman, Cairo and Beirut in the fields of architecture, graphic design and documentary television. Her independent film career started with the making of short experimental films It Wasn’t a Question of Olives (2001),and The Human Puppet (2005). The core subject of her work revolves around the question of the ‘personal’ Arab identity. She completed her postgraduate Masters degree in Documentary Directing at Edinburgh College of Art, in December 2007. Take Me Home (2008), is her first feature length documentary. She currently works and resides in Jordan.
